Mike Hewitt – Head Coach

Mike is starting his 27^th year as the Lake County Family YMCA head coach. Mike has also been coaching the Waukegan High School Girls team for the past 29 years. Prior to coming back to Waukegan he swam and then coached at the University of South Carolina.

Mike Howard – Assistant Coach

Mike is starting his 23^rd year as an assistant coach at the Lake County YMCA. Mike Started swimming at the age of 6 and swam with the YMCA until the age of 18. He then swam 4 years at Eastern Illinois University. Mike has also been a certified High School Swimming Official for the past 23 years.

Vicki Howard – Assistant Coach

Vicki is starting her 16^th season as an assistant coach at the Lake County YMCA specializing in the beginner / intermediate swimmer. She also swam for the Lake County YMCA as an age group swimmer. After HS she went back to the Y as a lifeguard / swim instructor. She has been a swim instructor for almost 16 years. Her teaching knowledge is a huge asset to the coaching team.

Katie Curren – Assistant Coach

Katie is in her 5^th year with the Lake County YMCA team. She decided to follow in the footsteps of her father, Mike Hewitt, and take up coaching. She will focus on the beginner / intermediate swimmers. Katie began swimming for the Lake County YMCA at the age of 6 and swam until the age of 18.

She also swam for the Waukegan Bulldogs in high school as well.

Darrell Waitrowski – Volunteer Coach

Darrell is starting his 4^th year with the Lake County YMCA team. He is currently working with the beginner/intermediate swimmers. Darrell swam for Waukegan HS and brings a lot of knowledge to the beginner swimmers. Darrell currently has 2 boys that swim on the team.
